3:30-5:00 Situational Ethics – Interactive Bible Study

  • Introduction and Overview of “Situational Ethics”
  • Description of how each situation will be analyzed and resolved
  • Introduction of a real-life ethical situation
  • Each table discusses the situation and approaches resolution from a Biblical perspective
  • Some of the tables report their “findings” as time allows
  • Go to the next situation and repeat as often as we can!

5:00-7:00 On your own for Dinner

7:00-8:30 Interactive Bible Study on “What it Means to Offer Spiritual Sacrifices”


Note: We are still seeking more “real-life” situational ethics for discussion! Below is one example we will plan to discuss:
Employees of a machining company were required to buy their own tools for the job. The tools were purchased from the company through a payroll deduction plan. An employee noticed that money was not taken out of his check to pay for the tools. After a few months without deductions being taken out, he went to the Accounting office and told them of his concern. The clerical office worker insisted it was paid, without checking the records. When the employee insisted she check the records, it was confirmed he had not paid for the tools. She said it would come out in the next payroll period, but it never did.

Now, how would you respond? What action, if anything, would you take? Would it be ethical to simply drop it or pursue it? If you pursue it, how would you go about it? What scriptures support your response?
